PILGRIMAGE TO ROME & MEDJUGORJE
DAY 1 – DEPARURE
Departure. Flight to Rome. Meals served in-flight.
DAY 2 – ARRIVAL
Upon arrival at the Rome Airport you will be met by your guide and transferred to the hotel for a welcome dinner and overnight.
DAY 3 – VATICAN, St. Peter the Rock
Attend the Papal General Audience at the Vatican and receive the Blessing of the Holy Father. Afternoon guided tour of St Peter’s Basilica. Dinner and overnight in Rome.
DAY 4 –CHRISTIAN ROME, MAJOR BASILICAS
Sightseeing tour of “Christian Rome”. Visit St John Lateran and proceed to Scala Sancti, the Holy Stairs that Jesus had climbed before being sentenced to death. Continue to the minor basilica of the Holy Cross where you can venerate the relics of Christ’s Crucifixion brought to Rome by St. Helena. After lunch see St Mary Major the first Marian shrine in the Catholic Church where we celebrate Mass. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 5 – ST PAUL - SANGUIS MARTYRUM- SEMEN CHRISTIANORUM
Martyrs’ blood is the seed of new Christians
Morning Mass will be celebrated at the catacombs of St. Calixtus. Continue to St. Paul Outside the Walls the burial site of the apostle of Gentiles. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 6 – ASSISI- Day trip to Assisi
Transfer to Assisi. Mass at St Mary of the Angels Basilica where St Francis spent most of his life. Here we see the Portiuncola, the rose garden, and the cave where the saint retired for prayer.
Explore the burial place of the Patron Saint of Italy and the Basilica of St. Clare. Here you may kneel before the crucifix from which Jesus spoke to St Francis, asking him to rebuild His church. Return to Rome for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7 – MONTE CASINO, “Ora et labora”
Travel to Monte Cassino and visit the Benedictine Monastery built in 529 AD. Celebrate Mass by the tomb of St Benedict & St Scholastica and learn more about the monastic tradition. Transfer to San Giovanni Rotondo for two overnight accommodation.
DAY 8 – SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO, Padre Pio
Today, visit the sites of Padre Pio’s life including his tomb and cell. Celebrate Mass in the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie where Padre Pio lived. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 9 – MANOPPELLO, Veil of Veronica
Travel south along the Adriatic Sea to Manoppello. Here we celebrate Mass at the church of the Volto Santo di Manoppello, housing an image, the cloth made of a rare fiber called byssus, which has been suggested to be the Veil of Veronica. Transfer to Loreto for dinner and overnight
DAY 10 – LORETO, Casa Santa/ FERRY/ BUS TRANSFER
Visit the main Marian shrine in Italy, where part of the home of the Holy Family of Nazareth now stands. Mass in the Casa Santa - tradition has it that this is the house in which Mary first prayed the Magnificat, in which Jesus grew to manhood and in which the Holy Family lived. Transfer to Ancona. Ferry crossing to Croatia. On arrival at Split bus transfer to Medjugorje for 4 overnight accommodation.
DAY 11-14 – MEDJUGORJE RETREAT
During our stay in Medjugorje there will be a special retreat program organized for you including every day Mass. You will have the opportunity to pray the rosary with villagers and other pilgrims at 5 pm each day at the St James Church. Croatian Mass and Blessing of the sick will be followed after the rosary. Your tour escort will schedule the next day’s daily activities and inform you during the dinner time. These include meeting with the visionaries if available, visiting the apparition Hill, climb the Crizevac Mountain. Enjoy a half-day excursion to the Franciscan Monastery of Siroki Brijeg to see Father Jozo, who was the priest in Medjugorje in 1981 when the apparitions began. Visit also the drug rehabilitation center of Cenacolo.
DAY 15 – SPLIT
Transfer to Split. Orientation tour of the city. Dinner and overnight in Split.
DAY 16 – DEPARURE
Transfer to the Split Airport for your return flight.
